Center for Benign Haematology, Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Van Creveldkliniek, University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht University, Utrecht, The Netherlands After graduating as a nurse in 1987, Nanda Uitslager worked in the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam for three years. In 1990 she switched to the Hematology and Stem Cell Transplantation Ward of the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU). During the 15 years she worked on that ward, she completed the necessary studies to become an Oncology Nurse (1993) and a Hematology Nurse (1996). In 2004 Nanda started working at the Van Creveldkliniek (VCK) Hemophilia Comprehensive Care Center as a hemophilia nurse treating both children and adults. Since September 2012, after completing her Masters in Advanced Nursing Practice, she is working as an advanced nurse practitioner at the VCK. Currently, Nanda is involved in the care of adults with hemophilia and related bleeding disorders, taking sole care of all patients with mild haemophilia and Von Willebrand’s Disease type 1. All other patients are seen alternating with a physician. She is responsible for the management of surgery in all patients – from treatment plan to care after discharge. Nanda is the past chair of the EAHAD Nurses Committee. In 2017 she trained in Peer Support to assist colleagues who may be experiencing difficulties or stress due to a work related calamity.
