Description
Prof. Dr. VandenDriessche obtained his PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium and was a visiting fellow at the Weizmann Institute for Science (Israel). He continued his research as a post-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, USA). He was subsequently appointed as Faculty at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and the Flanders Institute of Biotechnology (VIB). He is currently tenured Full Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel where he is founding Director of the Department of Gene Therapy & Regenerative Medicine. Prof. Dr. VandenDriessche published over 150 peer-reviewed publications in the field of gene therapy and has been working for nearly 40 years in this field, with a strong emphasis on hemophilia. He served as President of the European Society of Gene & Cell Therapy and was a member of the EMA Committee of Advanced Therapeutics.
